Overview:
The Global Carbon Reward (GCR) is a non-profit project that is advancing a breakthrough international climate policy that has scope to deliver the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. The GCR Initiative is currently in need of administrative support to build partnerships, attract funding, and manifest the project mission. Position Description:
The Asia Partnership Coordinator (Volunteer) serves as the primary email-based point of contact for a few priority organisations in Asia. The role focuses on maintaining regular, positive communication, supporting initial outreach efforts, and deepening the relationship as collaboration opportunities emerge. We anticipate approximately 2–3 hours per week, with some flexibility for lighter or heavier weeks by mutual agreement. With mutual consent, the volunteer will be provided periodic mentoring and training for a period of 6-12 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Email Correspondence: maintain friendly, professional email communication with designated partner organisations in Asia (initially 1–3 priority contacts).
  • Outreach Support: send introductory or follow-up emails as part of initial engagement efforts.
  • Relationship Nurturing: as collaboration develops, continue email-based coordination to explore shared goals, answer questions, and keep the partnership active.
  • Light Information Sharing: forward relevant updates, documents, or requests between organisations.
  • Simple Tracking: keep a record of correspondence and shared documents.

Requirements:

  • Interest in climate change issues
  • Ability to volunteer for 2 to 3 hours per week on average
  • Good communication and people skills, and attention to detail
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

Also Valued:

  • An interest in finance, economics, or environmental science or policy
  • Qualifications in any field
  • Asian language skills or cultural knowledge

Compensation: 

  • This is a volunteer position (unpaid)
  • Reimbursement of approved expenses

Commitment & Mentoring (6–12 months):

This role is offered for an initial period of 6 to 12 months. During this time, you will have access to mentoring and career advice, including guidance on professional development topics you wish to explore. Mentoring will be available from Dr Delton Chen and other members of the Project Management Team on a mutually agreed basis. Mentoring is initiated by email request.

Performance & Suitability:

The first 4 weeks are considered an introductory and mutual review period. During this time, both you and the organisation can assess fit. You are encouraged to request mentoring and support at any point. The organisation also reserves the right to conclude the volunteer assignment early if core responsibilities (i.e. email correspondence, professional communication, and basic reliability) are not met after clear feedback has been provided.
