Overview:

The Global Carbon Reward (GCR) is a non-profit project advancing a breakthrough international climate policy with the scope to deliver the goals of the Paris Agreement. The Carbon Reward Policy works by rewarding verified climate mitigation with a new financial instrument — the XCR — rather than penalising emitters. It is designed to close the multi-trillion-dollar climate finance gap and mobilise private and public capital at the speed and scale the climate crisis demands.

We are now in the Foundation Stage of a four-year Carbon Reward Assessment and Engagement Program. The immediate priority is to establish an interdisciplinary Working Group to undertake a preliminary feasibility assessment and produce a scoping report for the program’s subsequent stages.

If you are passionate about solving the climate crisis and are in a position to contribute your time and expertise on a voluntary basis, we warmly invite you to apply to join our policy working group. You may join as an individual, or as a representative of your organisation, institution, corporation, or government.

About the Working Group:

The Working Group will operate during the Foundation Stage (approximately 12 months) and will shape the design of the Carbon Reward Assessment and Engagement Program. Its core tasks are to:

● Conduct a preliminary feasibility assessment of the Carbon Reward policy
● Propose a fundraising strategy for the program
● Produce a scoping report for Stages 1, 2 and 3, including recommended consultation methodologies and an advocacy strategy for attracting pilot countries
● Identify key stakeholders — including polluting industries, CDR providers, governments, and financial institutions — whose perspectives should be sought in Stage 2

Working Group members are expected to contribute on a part-time voluntary basis, with time commitments agreed individually. All members will be covered by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Terms of Reference (TOR) that make clear there are no legal or commercial obligations.
